The Andrée Arctic Balloon Expedition

July, 1897 — Svalbard

The adventurer Salomon August Andrée takes off in a leaking hydrogen balloon with his crew of 2 other men in an effort to be the first to reach the north pole.

By October, all 3 men were dead. They did not reach the north pole.

Only their photographs survived.
